EVYL Leader Devo – Day Twenty Eight

John 21:15-24 “Key Questions”

Open:
Has your integrity or honesty ever been in question? How did you feel?

Dig:
1. Why do you think Jesus repeated the same question and charge to Peter three times? How is Peter supposed to demonstrate his love and loyalty to Jesus now?

2. What does Jesus mean by His prediction in verse 18? Why did Peter ask about John right away?

3. What is the crucial issue revealed in Jesus’ response to Peter (v. 22)? How is this linked with verses 15-17?

Apply:
What qualifies Peter to feed Jesus’ sheep? His success? His failure?

Do you love Him? Will you follow Him? Has Jesus been directly asking you these key questions all month? What things have you learned this month about yourself and God that will enable you to answer these questions differently than when you came?

Reflect:
“What matters supremely, therefore, is not…the fact that I know God, but the larger fact which underlies it—the fact that He knows me.” — J.I. Packer

“You will never know that Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you’ve got.” — Mother Teresa
